Ap­pli­ca­tion for EU resi­dence docu­ment

If your stay in Denmark for more than 3 months, you must apply for a EU residence document no later than 3 months following your entry.

The EU residence document is your documentation of your right to register at a Danish address and to stay in Denmark. It is the administration called The State Administration that  is responsible for this. However it is possible to do your entire registration in Vejle bi-weekly - read below how to do this. 

 

Before filling out the OD1 form (find link at the bottom of page) we advise that you read the below requirements carefully.

 

REMEMBER to also apply for a tax card with SKAT (the Danish tax authority). Read more under further information below.  

 

One Stop Service: 

Do your entire registration in Vejle

Regularly the State Administration comes to Vejle to register EU citizens. This means that as an EU citizen you can every other week do your entire registration at Vejle Municipality - we call it one stop service. 

One week before the registration date you have to send the below mentioned documents (what to bring) to the mentioned e-mail (How to apply).

E.g. if you are planning to stop by on April 24th you have to apply the documents latest April 17th before 14.00/2pm

Then you can show up on a date the State Administration is here between 10-12am and do your entire registration.  

The next dates the State Administration will be in Vejle are:  

  • April 10th
  • April 24th
  • May 8th
  • May 22nd
  • June 19th

 

What to bring: 

  • Always bring

    Application form  OD 1

    A clear copy of your passport or other valid travel document. A colour copy is preferred.

    1 passport photo (2 if you are not an EU citizen).

     

    Borgerservice can help you to record and buy a valid passport photo at a price of 125,00 kr.

    Please make sure that all documentation are translated in English, German or Danish and can be submitted together with the application.

  • Further documentation needed - employee in a company

    Employer's declaration (Appendix A of the application form OD1) or employment contract. 

    Please notice that if your employment contract is signed more than a month ago you need to bring the employer declaration. 

  • Further documentation needed - self employed

    Budget covering the first year of operation drawn up by a registered public accountant or a state-authorized public accountant, proof of registration at the Danish Commerce and Companies Agency as well as a lease agreement that states where the activity is based.

  • Further documentation needed - students

    Documentation for enrolment (educational establishment approved by the Danish Education Support Agency).(SU)

  • Further documentation needed - applying with sufficient funds

    Proof of sufficient funds to finance your stay, e.g. bank statement. If another person is willing to assume responsibility for your subsistence, we ask this person to fill out a declaration about support.

  • Further documentation needed - applying as a family member

    Proof of family relationship with the EU citizen in the form of marriage certificate and/or birth certificate.

How to apply:

  • Apply by email

    Print, sign and upload OD1

    Send your application and further documentation by e-mail to Vejle Municipality at sygesikring@vejle.dk.

    Await information, when to collect your EU residence document in Borgerservice (Citizen Service).

    Under normal conditions, this will be possible in max. 14 days.

    Meet in the office of Borgerservice on the given date and time

    The State Administration will be represented in Vejle kommune to perform the final identification and hand over your EU residence document.

    When you appear in the office of Borgerservice, you must always bring your original passport or other valid travel document.

    If you application has been send by email to Vejle Municipality, you must bring the original documents and 1 passport photo, when collecting your EU residence document.

  • Apply in person at Borgerservice

    Fill in application form OD1

    Print and sign OD1

    Hand over application form OD1 and further documentation to Borgerservice (Citizen Service) in person.

    When your application is received in the office of Borgerservice with the right documentation, you will be informed, when to collect your EU residence document in the same office.

    Under normal condition, this will be possible in max. 14 days.

    Meet in the office of Borgerservice on the given date and time

    The State Administration will be present at Vejle Municipality to perform the final identification and hand over your EU residence document.

    When you appear in the office of Borgerservice, you must always bring your original passport or other valid travel document.

  • When Collecting the EU residence document

    When your application is received in the office of Borgerservice (Citizen Service) with the right documentation, you will be informed, when to collect your EU residence document in Borgerservice.

    Under normal conditions, this will be possible in max. 14 days.

    You may submit you application in then normal working hours of Borgerservice.

    The possibility for new citizens receiving the EU residence document in Borgerservice - part of a service open every second Tuesday at 10-12 (see coming dates at "one stop service").

    On these days, The State Administration will be present in Vejle Municipality to perform the final identification and hand over your EU residence document.

    When you appear in the office of Borgerservice to receive the residence document and final identification by The State Administration, you must always bring your original passport or other valid travel document.

    If you application has been send by email to Vejle Municipality, you must bring the original documents and 1 passport photo, when collecting your EU residence document.

  • Remember your ID

    When you appear in the office of Borgerservice (Citizen Service) you must always bring your original passport or other valid travel document when: 

    • Handing over your application to Borgerservice
    • and when you meet The State Administration to perform the final identification and The State Administration hand over your EU residence
  • CPR-number and health insurance

    When the State Administration has provided your valid EU residence document you are entitled to register with Address in Denmark an you may obtain Danish health insurance and tax card.

    Borgerservice (Citizen Service) will help you with these steps right away.

    Registration with Address in Denmark can only be made in person.

  • Tax card

    You can speed up the process bringing all the needed information for your first tax card.

    Print out the form 04.063 EN on www.skat.dk.

    Fill it out and bring the necessary information, when collecting your EU residence document.

    If you do not bring the information when collecting the EU residence document or if you later need to make changes to you tax card - please contact SKAT. (www.skat.dk) - Phone +45 72221818.

    Please be aware that Vejle Municipality cannot issue a tax card for you. This has to be done by SKAT.

    Vejle Kommune can provide your application form with your CPR number and the Danish Address and will then send it to SKAT.

    You are of course always welcome to contact SKAT yourself.

  • Choices for application

    1.
    You may also submit your application personally to The State Administration .

    2.
    You may send your application by ordinary post, and you may send it already before you move to Denmark.

    If you miss any of the above supporting documents, you should submit your application personally.

    3.
    You may apply via a Danish representation abroad.

    4.
    You can apply at International Citizen Service in Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense or Aalborg.

    5.
    You may also get an application form at The State Administration departments and fill it in right away.

  • Please notice

    We shall process your case on the basis of the information that you state in your application and the supporting documents.

    In some cases Borgerservice (Citizen Service) and The State Administration will seek further information regarding your case, for instance from the social authorities, the tax authorities, the police as well as relevant authorities abroad.
