Alex Kanos

Alex Kanos er en fransk street artist, der specialiserer sig i store vægmalerier. Fra en tidlig alder blev tegning hans passion, og han var fascineret af store formater – en interesse, der har formet hans kunstneriske ambitioner. Han dimitterede med topkarakterer fra kunstakademiet.

Under studierne udviklede Kanos konceptet "CelloGraff", hvor cellofan strækkes ud i offentlige rum og skaber midlertidige lærreder til graffiti. Denne innovation markerede starten på hans karriere som maler og gav ham medieopmærksomhed. Udover Frankrig har Kanos arbejdet i Los Angeles, Sydøstasien og Kina.

Hans værker tager udgangspunkt i cyberpunk-temaer, blandet med 1800-tallets æstetik. Kanos forsøger at beskrive fremtidens udfordringer ved at kombinere organiske figurer med mekaniske og urbane elementer, og skildrer en fremtid, hvor maskine og menneske smelter sammen til en ny art.

Alex Kanos is a French street artist specialized in large-scale murals. From a very young age drawing became his passion and he was fascinated by large-scale formats, an attraction that shaped his artistic aspirations. He earned his degrees with honors from public Fine Arts schools.

During his studies Kanos developed the concept “CelloGraff”. This innovative approach involves stretching surfaces of cellophane in public spaces, providing a temporary canvas to bring graffiti to unexpected places. This innovation marked the beginning of his career as a painter as the media exposure grew. 

As well as in France, Kanos has also worked in Los Angeles and across Southeast Asia and China.

Kanos works dwell on themes such as cyberpunk, blending them with the aesthetic of the 19th century.  Kanos tries to describe the next challenges we will have to face in the coming centuries. He mixes organic characters with mecanic and urban elements. It gives a vision of our future, with machine and human melting into one new species.
